History
Mechanical engineering with tradition
From the spinning mill to ERMAFA - 200 years of mechanical engineering history from Chemnitz
The history of C. G. Haubold and later ERMAFA reflects more than 200 years of industrial history in Chemnitz and Saxony. The machine factory C. G. Haubold jr. emerged from a spinning mill in 1837, setting standards with innovations such as paper calenders, centrifuges and printing machines. During its time as a public limited company, the war years and nationalization in the GDR, the company developed into a major producer in the mechanical engineering sector. After 1990, the company was successfully restarted within the Hörmann Group.
Early beginnings
